FREEDOM RESOURCES
THANK YOU FOR LEADING A FREEDOM LIFEGROUP!
FREEDOM GROUP CHECKLIST!
1) Personal preparation is a must. Leaders have to have their own personal freedom experience with the Lord before we can lead others to freedom. That means going through the curriculum and letting the Lord deal with us first!
2) Participation is vital. Participation and personal experience is the culture of Freedom ministry, and we have to encourage and establish it in our group from the beginning. Ask for their ongoing commitment to this course and help them engage each week!
3) Hospitality is the atmosphere of freedom. When we begin with hospitality, we foster an environment for relationship building, trust, vulnerability, and transparency. Creating a food/drink rotation signup list for participants would be helpful.
4) Team leadership is successful leadership. Need a leader, co-leader, and prayer warrior. Leader helps bring up the co-leader through delegation. Prayer warrior will partner with the leader to pray over each person in the group weekly.
5) Transparency is the key to unlock freedom. What happens in freedom stays in freedom. Transparency is the key to unlocking freedom and we must honor it by keeping confidentiality. This must be emphasized by the leader to the group.
6) Begin with worship. A worship song helps people focus and engage in the experience of freedom ministry by humbling themselves and preparing their hearts to hear and receive from the Lord. You can find an Amazon playlist of worship songs here!
7) Rely on prayer throughout. Prayer cards filled out each time, and we will commit to praying over them continually. Front of card focuses on how lesson applies to participant and associated prayer; other prayer needs listed on back.
8) Homework makes the dreamwork. People will only get out what they put in. Encourage homework to be done during daily devotional time. It’s short readings and introspective journal questions that urges us to hear God’s voice.
9) Warfare is to be expected. Prepare people that spiritual warfare may be experienced in their lives. Prepare beforehand and don’t let the devil derail their freedom journey.
10) Encourage early and often to attend Freedom Encounter. As leaders, we must create excitement for the freedom encounter on Oct 25th. Freedom is 50% life group; 50% is the freedom encounter experience.

FREEDOM LIFE GROUP BASIC SCHEDULE
6:30 PM -- RELATIONSHIP BUILDING
Build relationships and trust by starting with foo, refreshments, and getting to know one another. Use a snack rotation signup list to help make this consistent. Also, use this time to hand out prayer cards for people to fill out sometime during the meeting. One side is for normal prayer requests; the other is for a prayer request that pertains to something in the week’s lesson.
6:40 PM -- FACILITATE DISCUSSION
Begin the week’s discussion from the leader guide, briefly giving an overview and then asking everyone the questions. Try to get every person to engage and share what God showed them through the material. Remember, it’s ok for there to be silence as people process, and you don’t have to answer all the questions they might have. Just point them back to the Lord for the answer. We want to help people know how to connect with and hear God for themselves!
7:40 -- BEGIN PRAYING FOR INDIVIDUALS
Freedom is based on equal parts prayer and hearing God! It’s not just learning, but it’s also about experiencing God in our lives. During this time, the leader and a prayer partner will take each member to the side to pray over them individually. As discussion with others continues, we will pray for the individual’s needs and for the specific way they want to apply something from the week’s lesson into their lives. And, we will keep praying for them throughout the week!
8:00 -- LIFEGROUP ENDS
It is important to honor everyone’s time commitments and ensure that we end our groups on time. This helps maintain consistency in attendance and builds trust. We want people to committ to the full 10 week semester and the Freedom Encounter Saturday. End by encouraging people to work through their Freedom Participant Guide before the next week’s session and to RSVP for the Freedom Encounter on Oct 25th!
