Each and every one of us have been called by God to do something AMAZING! 

Jesus left us with a commandment and a commission — to love God with everything we have, to really love people, AND to go everywhere and MAKE DISCIPLES!

As a LifeGroup leader, this is our heart and our purpose! THANK YOU for answering Christ’s call! And, THANK YOU for helping us disciple everyone that God brings through our doors! Our LifeGroup Leaders are a HUGE part of the ministry at Rose Heights Church! You not only help people find their community, but you also help them grow in their relationship with God. That’s what it’s ALL about!!

Because it’s such a HIGH CALLING, here are some things we’re looking for in our leaders…

1. You have a real, personal relationship with Jesus, AND the way you live your life each day reflects it!
2. You have been through our Rose Heights GROWTH TRACK class to become a member of the church!
3. You have REGULARLY participated in a recent Rose Heights LifeGroup, and ideally, you have been an apprentice or Co-Leader in a LifeGroup.
4. You have a HEART not just to be a teacher but a spiritual mother or father to those God entrusts to your group.

Here are some things to help you prepare to lead and disciple your group well.

1) Personal preparation is a must. Leaders have to have their own personal experience with the Lord before we can lead others to experience Him. That means going through the curriculum and letting the Lord deal with us first!

2) Participation is vital. Participation and personal experience is our culture of discipleship, and we have to encourage and establish it in our group from the beginning. Ask for their ongoing commitment to study AND to engage in the discussion each week!

3) Hospitality is the atmosphere LifeGroups. When we begin with hospitality, we foster an environment for relationship building, trust, vulnerability, and transparency. Creating a food/drink rotation signup list for participants would be helpful.

4) Team leadership is successful leadership. Need a leader, co-leader, and apprentices. Leader helps bring up the next generations of leaders by training the co-leader  and apprentices through delegation.

5) Transparency is the key to transformation. What happens in our LifeGroups stays in our LifeGroups. Transparency is the key to unlocking transformation and we must honor it by keeping confidentiality. This must be emphasized by the leader to the group.

6) Rely on prayer throughout. Prayer for and over your group each time. And, as a leader commit to praying individually for your members each week.

7) Homework makes the dreamwork. People will only get out what they put in. Encourage study to be done during daily devotional time.

8) Follow up with your people. Intentional relationship connection is the goal of a LifeGroup leader. The key is to invite your people into your lives and into what you are already doing — not adding another “thing” to your busy schedule. Maybe that’s a quick text to people once a week. Maybe that’s inviting a different person out to eat with you after church on Sunday. Maybe that’s showing up for them when life is happening. REMEMBER, discipleship is CAUGHT not TAUGHT! When they have relationship with you outside the church, they will see what a REAL Christian looks like, and they will grow. THIS is what it looks like to be a spiritual mother or father to people and to make REAL disciples.
